Chef Ann Foundation
We recently had the opportunity to present our pasta to a group of school lunch administrators with the help of the Chef Ann Foundation. Their vision:
aligns with ours and they've decided to bring Etto on as a partner. Chef Ann relies on donations and helps schools by connecting great ingredients to schools and using their network of chefs to help them prepare the best meals using these ingredients. They also provide tools and support to help make school lunch programs successful and efficient. The amount of complexity involved in feeding school children is tough to begin with, but when ingredients are sourced from around 50 local farms and vendors like they do at the SLO Coastal district you can only imagine the work. It's impressive to say the least.
Since the very beginning Etto has been involved with school lunch programs, mostly close to home, but even as far as Vermont. Access to healthy lunch in schools is critical to success in the classroom and also the easiest way to battle food insecurity.
At this event in Morro Bay, many of the participants had already been working with Etto for their school lunches with great success. They recounted that prior to us joining their lunch programs pasta was rarely served and not popular. Now it has become one of, if not the, most popular and frequent lunches on the docket (Yes, I'm talking about you - Shandon). These stories are extremely gratifying for our little pasta factory.
The work of the Chef Ann Foundation relies on donations big and small so if you would like to contribute here is a link: Donate Today
Also, ask your kids or grandkids what they had for lunch today. The answer might surprise you.
