Calabria is known for spicy food and the tip is where you catch the ferry to Sicily.
Campania
From Naples to the Amalfi Coast this region can be credited with both the birth of pizza and dried pasta. Some of the best food in all of Italy, if not the world.
Emilia-Romagna
Boasting prosciutto di Parma, Parmesan cheese, Balsamic vinegar among other standouts, the region is a food lover’s dream.
Friuli Venezia Giulia
Has Eastern European flair and is the place to enjoy the world of “orange wine”.
Lazio
Rome’s province is dominated by the “eternal city”, but the countryside around Rome is also worth a visit.
Liguria
This skinny coastal region is filled with beautiful coastal towns, Cinquterre, maybe Italy’s best olive oil and focaccia bread.
Lombardy
Milan is the center of Lombardy, but further north are the great wines of Valtellina and the unique pasta pizzoccheri.

This region boasts rolling green hills and nice beaches and is less crowded than the better known parts of Italy.

This small region is the one that even Italians seem to forget. Maybe that makes it worth a visit.

This northern region has Austrian/German influence with the beauty of the Alps, lakes and delicious white wine.
Tuscany
This is the Italy of many dreams. Cypress trees and old stone villas plus great wines featuring the Sangiovese grape. Firenze can be crowded, but should be visited to see all the Italian renaissance art.
Umbria
For folks who love Tuscany but want less crowds. Amazing hill top towns and cities with rustic and delicious food.
Veneto
Venice is truly one of the most stunning places to visit on earth even if it can be extremely crowded. Other destinations are worth a visit and much less touristy.
