This is a spectacular time of year on the Central Coast when it comes to fresh produce. We are lucky to live in a place where so much grows, we have farms and farmers who grow amazing fruits and vegetables all around us. Whenever we get visitors to the market from the midwest and east coast they are struck by the quality of produce they see at Etto and it reminds me to not take it for granted.
One of my favorite days of the week is Tuesday when we get our weekly Talley boxes. The picture above is of this week's box. Etto became a pickup location a couple years ago and is one of the few spots that allows members to customize their boxes. It's such a joy (I'm not exaggerating) each week to open the box and see what's inside as it drives much of what I'll be eating the next week. I just learned that Talley also ships these boxes all over the west coast for those who can't pick up a box from Etto. You can even add Etto pasta to your custom box:
Here's some more information from our friends at Talley:
"Talley Boxes contain produce grown at Talley Farms, other local farms on the Central Coast and farms throughout California so that they can source the most flavorful produce available during its peak season. Juicy tomatoes, delicious corn, sweet strawberries and crisp apples are all harvested fresh on the farm, packed into your Talley Box and delivered to you within days of being picked. Customers can build the perfect box for themself by customizing their order to contain their favorite fruits and veggies along with other staple non-perishable items like Etto Pasta."

In addition to Talley we source our produce from a variety of local farms and here is a selection of our recent bounty which you've come to know and love. We just started getting our first San Marzano tomatoes from Surfside Farms in Morro bay. This farm boasts similar growing conditions to the top growing spots you find in southern Italy also in the shadow of ancient volcanos. We only get these tomatoes that are the ultimate sauce tomato for a couple months so take advantage while they last.
