San Valentino Is Upon Us

It makes sense that some holidays have origins elsewhere. Valentine's Day is a great example of one of those days that is believed to have roots in Italy or at least with the Romans pre-Italy. Our great nation is only 250 years old and Valentine's Day traces back to the 3rd or 4th century AD as a day of feasting. You can go down a serious rabbit hole learning about the creation of many of these holidays. It's believed the first Valentine love note was sent back in 1415, but it took the good old USofA to do what we do best in commercializing Valentine's Day in the mid-1800s.
 
One of the take aways about Valentine's is that the early history was feast driven (y'all know I like nothing more than a good feast). Our families' culture has always involved spreading love through food. My grandmother's Sunday meals were always filled with love and I've carried this tradition forward cooking for my family every chance I get.
