Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you. As many of you know by now Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday because it is a day to give thanks and reflect on what's good in life. It's also a time to spend most of the day in the kitchen and feed those you love. We will be making porchetta this year instead of turkey due to a request from the kid who traveled home. I guess I raised her right. I do enjoy a traditional turkey dinner, but it's a lot for our small cohort to handle so porchetta will be much easier and tastier than dried out turkey. The last few days at Etto many of you said you will be making pasta for Thanksgiving. Now that's a tradition I can get behind. I look forward to hearing about more of your holiday traditions over the coming few weeks.

If you'd like to get the blood pumping a little bit in the morning join us in Atascadero for a fun walk/run at the Turkey Trot 2025, while contributing to a great cause. The registration process is super chill and costumes are not necessary or is running. We will be there with our prancing Italian greyhound Picco and make laps around the lake until he wants to stop.
Black Friday
Spend $50 get $5 at Etto
One thing we noticed on our most recent trip to Italy was their embrace of Black Friday as many merchants seemed to be promoting what seems to be a newish "Black Week". It's a funny thing since they don't celebrate Thanksgiving in Italy, but they do seem to celebrate Black Friday and now Black Week. It makes sense though since Italy is retail obsessed with beautiful streets filled with shops and the best window displays ever- Milan's shopping is legendary with the amazing Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II (kind of a mouthful - pictured above) - and other arcades that malls the world over have tried to emulate (good luck with that). We have enjoyed visits to The Grove in LA, but it's a little silly when you realize Italy has entire cities and towns that inspired The Grove and the streets go forever. Visit Milan on any Sunday and you'll be overwhelmed by the crush of humanity strolling the shopping promenades that go in every direction for kilometers.

Stateside, Black Friday has evolved and this year it seemed more and more retailers jumped the gun and started Black Friday a week or two or maybe even three weeks early. What's up with that? It seems that after a bit of backlash when many stores started their Black Friday on Thanksgiving and then backed off just decided F-it let's start Black Friday a week earlier. Of course another one saw that and decided let's try to beat those guys and start 10 days earlier and on and on. Maybe Black Friday is not a tradition to embrace, but as a traditionalist Etto celebrates Black Friday only on the Friday after Thanksgiving. We will also participate in Shop Small Saturday. Please join us unless you fell for all those fake, early, jumping the gun Black Friday folks.

Once again, with every $50 you spend, score a $5 gift card - this can add up and give you a bunch of gift cards to use as stocking stuffers. Since Etto doesn't generally do sales of any sort believing our prices are fair and markups relatively low this is an opportunity for some nice savings.

We are loaded with panettone with plenty of traditional options and even some that have hopped on the dubai chocolate craze. We also have fresh Italian caviar to help your celebration sparkle a bit. The price is very fair for a premium highest quality version and better than the Russian ones. Our usual selection of small batch cookies and treats have arrived too. These artisanal Italian sweets are very special and limited in quantity and when items sell out they are gone for good.
